Four suspects in Chicago are currently facing charges for the hate crime after torturing an 18-year-old mentally disabled man, in a live video broadcast on Facebook.

In the live video, the man’s wrists are bound together and his mouth is taped shut. While he is captive the four suspects shout racial slurs, slice his clothes with a knife, and was even force him to kneel down and drink water from the toilet. Someone also tapped cigarette ashes on an open wound on the man’s head. In one part of the footage someone is shouting “f- – – white people” and “f- – – Donald Trump”. It is said that he was not targeted for being white but for being mentally disturbed.

The man was able to escape when the neighbors threatened to call the police. When he got out into the street he was found bloodied and hurt. Police say that the four suspects are in custody, and along with hate crime, are being charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery, and aggravated unlawful restraint. The victim told officials that it all started with playful fighting but then transformed into hours of torture that was streamed on social media. The grandmother of one of the suspects was shocked once she saw the video and could not believe what she was seeing.

If we didn’t have problems like this the world would be a better place. Things like bullying, harassment, and other hate crimes are what is corrupting our society; and if all of us do what we can to stop it eventually we will come across a way better place we can call home.
